Asa Thorp's Log Cabin
The Thorp Cabin is a historical marker representing the influential family of Asa Thorp who contributed to ealry growth in Door County. Asa was a New York cooper by trade. He established an early pier, a warehouse, and a sawmill to supply residents and ship captains with supplies and cordwood. Later he and his wife Eliza ran a small boardinghouse and hotel for workmen and travelers. He was known as the "Founder of Fish Creek" and built his log cabin home in 1849.
